Rhodonite Polished Stone

Polished Piece of Rhodonite for Display or Cabochon

This is a gorgeous piece of rhodonite. The black dendrites almost paint a picture of trees on a hillside, standing out against the vibrant shades of pink. It is flat on both sides, the edges are squared, and it has been lightly polished all around (not to a mirror shine). It is 2.7" x 2.3" x .2" (69x57x6mm) and weighs 2.8 ounces (80 grams). It serves beautifully as a display piece but could be used an an over-sized cabochon in a special jewelry creation.

Rhodonite Heart Cabochon

Large 2x2 inch Rhodonite Heart Cabochon

This is a large Rhodonite heart cabochon - a soft pink with a touch of black accents along the edge. It is a little less than 2" x 2" (apx 50x50 mm) and 5.5 mm thick and weighs 26.8 grams, or 9/10 of an ounce. This piece was cut by lapidary artist S.A.Wittick. Purple Dumortierite Cabochon

Small Purple Dumortierite Specimen Cabochon

This pretty cab is approximately 41 x 17 mm, and 6 mm thick. We acquired the unusual purple material from an old collection. After having a small piece analyzed by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), it was identified as having a make-up of 'Dumortierite, Tourmaline, Rutile and possible additional minerals.' The stone does not have a mirror shine, but is none-the-less a beautiful specimen of this rare material.
