This is a polished piece of a batch of mostly purple with black rough we acquired sometime back. After much help trying to determine what it is, we had it analyzed by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and their determination was that it is 'Dumortierite, Tourmaline, Rutile and possible additional minerals.' This piece has one sliced face that has a polish on it, while all other sides are the natural uncut stone. It stands easily on one end and lays on the side a couple different ways. The measurements are 2 3/4" x 2" on the polished face x apx 1 1/2" thick. It weighs 14.4 ounces, or 405 grams. It is a nice specimen of some unusual material.

This is a Berber Agate geode from Morocco, natural and unpolished. It has a small cavity on one end, filled with tiny, sparkling druse Quartz crystals when you catch them in the light. The other end has the pink with the purplish-blue band surrounding a solid center of chalcedony and agate. The stone measures roughly 2.3" x 1.7" x 1.7" at the wider points, and it weighs 4.3 ounces, or 122 grams. Photos were taken inside under lighting, and it is shown from several sides. It's a beautiful specimen but looks like it could also have possibilities for cabochons if desired. This piece is also available through our Etsy Store if interested, free shipping included.

This is a narrow branch of a sparkling piece of crystallized Petrified Wood. The person we acquired it from said he collected it from the Milky Ranch, Arizona. He said he was told it is Petrified Fern from the Triassic period (though we can't confirm that). It is very sparkly, covered in many tiny black and grey crystals, possibly some Smokey Quartz. It sits nicely. The back side has a more brown area. We have washed the material off, but not scrubbed it, so that brown might or might not wash off. It measures about 5" x 1.9" up to 3.6" tall, and 1.2" up to 1.3" thick, weighing 1 lb, 2 ounces. It's a very neat mineral specimen!

This is a fantastic natural crystal of Rutilated Smoky Quartz. It is listed among our rough material for cutting and polishing stones, but it appears to me as a wonderful mineral specimen as well, so I've included it on this page with Minerals. It is filled with beautiful golden Rutile needles, including a highly desirable starburst pattern (second photo). It weighs 338 grams, or 11.9 ounces, and measures roughly 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" at its wider points. It is rough and uncut.

[2]This wonderful specimen has already sold. We do have a few other unique pieces (larger than this one) but not photographed yet. It is an Amethyst Geode from Morocco and is filled with stalactite crystals. The coloring of the crystals has a reddish tint, we believe from Hematite.
See video of the pair. (Hit back arrow to return to this page.)

This is a beautiful crystal specimen, full of a wonderful spray of crystals! It is roughly 2" x 1 7/8" x 1 1/2" and weighs 3.9 ounces, or 112.4 grams. The matrix has what we believe is green Fluroite in it, while the most captivating part of this is the spray of crystals on the other side. We think they're Quartz, but there is a lustre on them we're not used to on Quartz. It was collected by an individual whose treasures we acquired, collected between the 1950's and 1980's. This one was in a box labeled as Fluorite, and we're pretty sure the green IS Fluorite. He collected extensively in the Mojave Desert of California, and that's where we think this one was collected. The Fluorite areas on it fluoresce purple under UV light.
