These are unpolished slabs of Indian Paint Stone - awesome material that is no longer able to be collected. Polishing of this material results in a satin sheen rather than a glossy polish, but beautiful, in our opinon! This is an Indian Paint Stone slab. To our knowledge, the material comes from the Death Valley area of California, where collecting is no longer possible. It is a soft rock and polishing results in a satin sheen rather than the glossy one. It is roughly 3 1/4" x 2 1/4", and it tapers in thickness between 7 and 19 mm thick (partial end-piece, with a slightly angled slice on the back). It weighs 140 grams, or 4.9 ounces.

Exotic Looking Indian Paint Stone Slab

This is wild looking slab of Indian Paint Stone, from Death Valley of California. As noted above, it is a soft rock and polishing results in a satin sheen rather than the glossy one. It is about 4 1/2" x 1 3/8", and 6 mm thick. It weighs 60 grams, or 2.1 ounces.

This is another Indian Paint Stone slab from the Death Valley area of California. As noted above, it is a soft rock and polishing results in a satin sheen rather than the glossy one. This one is roughly 4" x 2 3/8", and 10-17 mm thick (it's an end-piece, fairly flat but it tapers in thickness). It weighs 195 grams, or 6.9 ounces.
