Small, Unpolished Wiley's Well Thunderegg - Potato Patch (?)

This is a small unpolished thunderegg from the Wiley's Well area. A guess as to which specific collecting bed - I think it is probably from the Potato Patch. It is about 2 1/2" x 2 1/4" and not very thick, at only 3/4". It weighs 3.7 ounces, or 105 grams. Please note again that it is unpolished, and all but but the last two photos were taken of it wet.

Polished Thunderegg

Polished Thunderegg - Possibly Nevada (?)

This is a polished Thunderegg. It has a beautiful blue agate in the middle of the red rhyolite matrix - a pretty contrast. We posted photos of this one in an online forum hoping to have someone recognize where it might be from. No one who saw it was certain, but one person thought it might be from Nevada. It is 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" and nearly 1 3/4" thick. It weighs 1 pound 12 ounces, or 800 grams.

Wileys Well Thunderegg

Unpolished Wiley's Well Thunderegg with Common Opal

This is another of the unpolished thundereggs we have from the Wiley's Well area. Lots going on with this one, including a couple areas of what I believe is common opal that filled into pockets. It is about 4 1/2" x 4" and up to a little less than 2" thick. It weighs 1 pound, 13 ounces, or 820 grams. Please note again that it is unpolished, and all but but the last two photos were taken of it wet.

Richardson's Ranch Thunderegg

Unpolished Richardson's Ranch Thunderegg

This is a very neat unpolished Thunderegg, we think from Richardson's Rock Ranch. It is roughly 3 1/2" x 3" and about 2 1/2" thick. It weighs 600 grams, or 1 lb, 5 ozs. It is not polished, but it has had a bit of sanding already. Beautiful, colorful patterns in this one, but please note that in natural lighting, it is not as bright as it looks in the photos. Additionally, it was photographed wet in most of the photos.

Unpolished Wiley's Well Thunderegg - Potato Patch, East Bed

One of the collections we acquired had a large batch of sliced, unpolished thundereggs from the Wiley's Well area. This is one from that batch. We thought this one might be from the Black Agate Mine area. However, with the help of some online groups, we have since determined and are pretty sure it came from the Potato Patch, East Bed. It is about 2 1/2" x 2" and just about 1" thick. It weighs 3.8 ounces, or 105 grams. Please note again that it is unpolished, and all but one photograph of the face were taken of it wet.

Wileys Well Thunderegg

Unpolished Wiley's Well Thunderegg - Egg in Egg Formation

One of the collections we acquired had a large batch of sliced, unpolished thundereggs from the Wiley's Well area. This is another from that batch. We think this one was from the Hauser Bed, though we don't know that for sure. Some nice details in this one. It looks to me like a thunderegg was forming and then another formed around it. There are several small water line areas. And until you look very close, you don't notice the beautiful tiny crystals in several areas, like in the center of the star-like pattern! It is 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" and about 2 1/2" thick. It weighs 1 lb, 9 ozs, or 710 grams. Please note again that it is unpolished, and all but one photograph of the face were taken of it wet.

Berber Agate Geode

Gorgeous Quartz Druse, Crystal-Filled Berber Agate Geode

This is an awesome druse-covered, crystal-filled Berber Agate geode from Morocco! It is natural, just a broken-open geode. The edges are rough, but what an amazing beauty! It is roughly 2" x 1 3/8" x 1 1/2" and weighs 2.5 ounces, or 73 grams. If you love geodes, you will not be disappointed in this one! Again, please note that it has not been finished on the edges - just the natural, broken edge, revealing the beauty inside!

Lucky Strike Thunderegg

Gorgeous Lucky Strike Thunderegg Beauty

This is a beautiful Moss Agate Thunderegg, from the Lucky Strike Mine in Oregon, nicely polished on the face. It is roughly 2 3/4" around, and not quite 1 1/4" thick. It weighs 225 grams, or 8 ounces. A wonderful piece to add to any collection.

Wileys Well Nodule

Polished Wiley's Well Double Thunderegg Geode

This is a Wiley's Well thunderegg, polished on the face. It's a real beauty, filled with crystals as well as agate, in what looks like kind of a double thunderegg! One end has several agate-filled cavities, while the other has an open cavity with some amazing crystal growth. Notice in the slide show how it has this thin layer extending toward the center, with crystals growing from both sides of it. Very neat piece, and I don't think the photos do it justice. It's roughly 6 1/2" x 3-4" and about 2 1/2" thick. It weighs 1 lb, 4 ozs, or 1 kg. An awesome addition to any collection!

Polished Wileys Well Nodule

Wiley's Well Thunderegg with Neat Inclusions - 'Rabbit Ears'

This is a Thunderegg from Wiley's Well area, polished on the face. It's filled with crystals and agate, with a flat, solid face. You'll easily notice the 'rabbit ears' about the center, but there are several other inclusions that look like they'be been kind of 'stuck' near the 'ears.' It's 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" and about 1 1/2" thick. It weighs 280 grams, or 10 ounces. A beautiful piece to add to any collection!

Polished Wileys Well Geode

This is a large half Wileys Well Geode thunderegg, polished on the face. It has a gorgeous bed inside of velvety-burgundy crystals with small Quartz crystals growing sporadically - beautiful! It is about 4" around on the face and a little more than 2" thick. It weighs 855 grams or 1 lb 14 oz. The pictures don't do it justice. A wonderful addition for any collection!

Double Thunderegg

Richardson's Ranch Double Thunderegg - Blue Bed We Think

This is a Richardson's Rock Ranch Thunderegg, guessing it is probably from the Blue Bed. An awesome piece - it is at least a double thunderegg, almost looks like a triple! It has beautiful waterlines, a small pocket on one side with tiny blue druse crystals, and even a little moss! It is 4 1/2" x 3-4" and roughly 1 3/4" thick. It weighs 1 lb 10 ozs, or 750 grams. There is a polish on it enough to be able to easily see its beauty, but it looks like an incomplete polish and would be enhanced by a little more finishing. An awesome piece even as-is however!!

Baker Agate Thunderegg

Baker Agate Thunderegg with 'Floater'

This is a Baker Agate Thunderegg from New Mexico, nicely polished on the face. It has a small 'floater' in the center, with red banding on one side and black on the other. Then surrounding the crystal section almost half way is another chamber - long and thin, with pockets of agate as well. To me (Rhonda), I easily see a dragon, or perhaps a lizard, guarding an egg in the center! Whether you see that or not, I believe it is a very neat specimen. It is 3 3/4" x 3 1/2" on the polished face, and about 3 1/2" thick. It weighs 805 grams, or 1 lb, 12 ounces. An awesome piece to add to any collection!
