Dinosaur Bone Rough

Agatized Dinosaur Bone Fossil with Crystal Inside

This is an unpolished piece of rough Dinosaur Bone, sliced on one end. I had this listing all done when I happened to notice a small cavity on the rough, uncut end and I realized it's a Quartz crystal (roughly measuring apx 5mm long)! It's visible in the top left area of the 2nd and 3rd photos, and here with an extreme close-up. It is also listed on our rough fossil page, and here is the rest of that description. Aside from the gemstone, it has dark red coloring with some charcoal as well. It is much brighter in the light than it looks in-hand (notice the color variety in the various photos). Some cellular structure is visible. It measures 2 7/8" x 2" on the sliced face, and lays or stands (on either end) up to 2 1/2". Its weight is 12.7 ounces, or 360 grams. While someone may choose to create slabs and cabochons from this piece, I believe it is a wonderful collector specimen with that crystal!

Fossil Stone Bookends

Natural Stone Fossil Shell Bookends

This is a set of bookends cut from a natural, unique stone with fossil shells in it. It's a neat specimen piece with a rock of some type embedded into the side, protruding out when viewed one way, and a very worn, empty cavity that looks like it once held another rock. They are not fully polished but have had a light grinding on one matching side, and a little bit more of a polish on the other main side (1st photo) - just enough to make the definition of the fossils a little more intense. Together they weigh 5 lbs, 13.5 ounces. Best suited to support medium size, non-heavy books. Better polishing can be done upon request ($45 for one face, both sides).
