These are unpolished slabs of Indian Paint Stone, and some other material that looks somewhat similar. Indian Paint Stone comes from the Death Valley area of California, where collecting is no longer possible. Polishing this material results in a satin sheen rather than a glossy polish. 5+" Indian Paint Stone Slab - Neat Patterns

This is a piece of Indian Paint Stone. It is from a chunk we halved not long ago, unlike most we have cut in the past. Pretty neat patterns in it, and looks like a nice, solid slab with no visible fractures. It measures very roughly 5 1/2" x 4" at the widest points, and goes from 7 mm on one end to 9 mm thick on the other end. The weight is 241 grams, or 8.5 ounces. As a reminder, polishing this material usuall as a satin sheen to it, and not the glossy shine of agates and jasters.

Indian Paint Stone Rough

Small Piece of Indian Paint Stone Rough

This is a piece of rough Indian Paint Stone. It has been sliced on two sides so you can easily see the potential, but please note however that coloring is off a little - it actually has a little more of a brown tint to it than it looks in the photos. It is 3 to 4" long x 1 3/4 to 2 1/4" wide, and about 1 to 1 1/2" thick. It is a little less than a pound, at 13.9 ounces (395 grams). Please note it has a '12-' written on one side, not by us.

This is a piece of Indian Paint Stone. It is rough and uncut, but not a large piece. It measures very roughly 5 1/4" x 1 3/4" x mostly 1/4" to 1" thick. The weight is 168.7 grams, or 5.9 ounces.
