Poppy Moss Agate Slab

Moss Agate Slab with Little 'Poppies', from Cady's Mountains
- We Have Another!

This is an unpolished, slice of Moss Agate with lots of little 'poppies' in it. We've heard it referred to as Christmas Tree Agate, and comes from the Southern Cady Mountains in the Mojave Desert. This piece has already sold, but we do have another slice or two, just not photographed yet. If you would like to see more, send us a message and we'll put attention to getting more up soon.

RAINBOW LEDGE JASP-AGATE AKA RAINBOW RIDGE - SLABS

The material in this section is known as Rainbow Ridge, and also known as Rainbow Ledge, jasp-agate (and jasper, agate, jasper-agate). It comes from the Randsburg/Inyokern area of the El Paso Mountains (Mojave Desert of California). Our understanding is the rock club that has the claim on this material says it is actually Rainbow Ledge, but we have even seen it written Rainbow Ridge in some of the gem trail books. Either way, some awesome material has come from this area, and there are a variety pattens we have seen, all in one piece as well as one type of pattern only in some.

Rainbow Ledge Jasp-Agate

Rainbow Ledge / Ridge Jasp-Agate Slab Peachy Colors, 3x2.5"

This is a slice of Rainbow Ledge (AKA Rainbow Ridge) Jasper-Agate. There is a small open pocket on one side, a couple other tiny pits, but overall it seems like a nice, stable slab. It measures about 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" at the wider points x just over 7 mm thick. It weighs 93 grams, or 3.3 ounces. Photographed both wet and last two dry.

Colorful Rainbow Ledge Jasp-Agate Slab

This is another Rainbow Ledge slab, lots of colorful 'pieces' in it. There is one open pocket visible, but otherwise looks nice and solid. It is 5" x 1/2 to 1 5/8", and 6.9-7 mm thick. Exotic-Looking Rainbow Ledge Jasper-Agate Slab

This slice of Rainbow Ledge has gorgeous coloring in it - kind of an exotic look to it, nice and colorful. Most of the lines you see are not fractures, but there is a possible one that can be just felt with a fingernail that, worst case, could split the stone into two sides. There is a rough spot on one side - a little of the matrix - but thickness is only fractionally affected. It is roughly 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x between 7-9.4 mm thick. It weighs 85 grams, or 3 ounces.

Rainbow Ridge Jasper-Agate Slab with Blue

This is another slice of Rainbow Ledge / Rainbow Ridge Jasper-Agate. It has dendrites in it and a few areas of colors, like orange, yellow and even some small blue. There are some possible fractures in it. If cutting cabs, you might want to seal before cutting, but even without that, several nice cabs should be able to be cut. It measures apx 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" at the wider points and 6.7 to 7.2 mm thick. It weighs 90 grams, or 3.1 ounces.

Colorful Rainbow Ledge Jasper-Agate Slab

This is a Rainbow Ridge (Rainbow Ledge) Jasp-Agate slab. It's colorful, with oranges, yellows, and blues. One edge reveals small section of druse. There are a couple small pits. It is just over 4" x 1 7/8" at the wider points, x 7 mm, and weighs 71 grams, or 2.5 ounces.

Rainbow Ledge Jasper-Agate Slab with Exotic-Look

This is another Rainbow Ledge Jasp-Agate slab. The material from this area comes with a variety of neat patterns, this is one of my favorite type of patterns from there. you'll see in the photos a long white line - it does feel like a fracture separating the two sides. There are a few rough-spot indentations on the one side that are slightly thinner than most of the slab. The measurements on it are roughly 3" x 2 1/2" x 6.7-7 mm thick. It weighs 2.7 ounces, or 77 grams.

5 lb Chunk of Rainbow Ledge Jasper-Agate Rough

This is a 5 pound piece rough from Rainbow Ledge Jasp-agate. It measures approximately 6" 1 1/2" to 4" x 3 1/2" in the wider areas of the stone. You can get an idea of the patterns that might be found by scrolling through the photos. As with any rough material, when you cut the stone it may have those patterns continuing in many different ways or even disappearing. 1 lb 14 oz Chunk of Rainbow Ledge Jasp-Agate Rough

This is a smaller piece compared to others we have photographed in this batch. It has a number patterns in it - red, yellow, and cream colors on one side, while dark almost black and some white on another side, and 'spots' of black, yellow, white on another. There are numerous dendrites throughout. It measures 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" x 1-2" at the wider points. The weight is close to 2 pounds, at 1 pound 14 ounces. This is another piece of Rainbow Ledge Jasper Agate. It has been sliced on one side so you can get an idea of how it may look inside. You can see various areas of agate, some more colorful than others, some fracture lines as well as some that look like they are healed, and there is also what looks like the plain rock inside in some areas. 10 lbs 5 oz Chunk of Rainbow Rough with Druse

This is a large piece of Rainbow Ledge Jasp-Agate. It is covered with quartz druse on on side and black and yellow jasper and agate with small patches of color. And lots of dendrites in it. It measures 9" x 6" x 1/2" tapering up to 5" on the other side, with a weight of 10 lbs, 5 ounces.
