Rainforest Jasper Slab

Large Rainforest Jasper End-piece Slab

This is a really pretty large, unpolished slice of Rainforest Jasper. Sliced flat on one side, it has the rough outside of the stone itself. There are several agate-filled pockets, a few filled with rhyolite, and a few open pockets. It measures approximately 6 3/4" x a little over 5" at the widest points. The rough back is uneven, but mostly between 6 and 13 mm, and a small area as think as about 4 mm. It was photographed inside under lighting, and the last two photos are dry. Both sides are shown. Very neat piece for display, polished or unpolished as it is, but one could certainly cut a number of cabs as well.

Ocean Jasper Slab

Large Orbicular Ocean Jasper with Lots of Orbs

This unpolished slice is a larger Orbicular Jasper, pretty sure from Madagascar. It's beautiful material. There are some pits, mostly along the 'bottom' longer edge, and also several open pockets with tiny sparkles coming from some of them when moved in the light. Lots of room for creations of cabochons or display. It is apx 7" x 6" at the widest points and 6-8+ mm thick. It weighs 370 grams, or 13 ounces. It was photographed outside in sunshine, wet (drying fast) and the last two photos are dry. Both sides are shown.

Rainbow Ledge Jasp-Agate

Rainbow Ledge Jasper-Agate Slab with Exotic-Look

This is another Rainbow Ledge Jasp-Agate slab. The material from this area comes with a variety of neat patterns, this is one of my favorite type of patterns from there. you'll see in the photos a long white line - it does feel like a fracture separating the two sides. There are a few rough-spot indentations on the one side that are slightly thinner than most of the slab. The measurements on it are roughly 3" x 2 1/2" x 6.7-7 mm thick. It weighs 2.7 ounces, or 77 grams.

Mexican Agate Slab

Mexican Agate Slab - Possibly Apache Agate

This is an unpolished Mexican Agate slab with a deep, dark red and purple/blue. This fabulous stone was part of an old batch of rough we acquired from older gentleman who was the collector of it. He traveled all over Mexico sometime back in the 1960's or 1970's. We aren't sure exactly what kind of Mexican Agate it is - we thought a Laguna Agate, or possibly an Agua Nueva. But someone suggested it might be an Apache Agate, and those found with a google search look closer than any other type we've found. Whatever type, it's a beauty! It is dark in natural lighting, but brightens in the light. It is roughly 4" x 1 - 2 3/8" and 7 - 8.7 mm thick. It weighs 85 grams, or 3 ounces. Dinosaur Bone Fossil Slab

Agatized Dinosaur Bone Fossil Slab with Burgundy Colors

This slab is a slice of Dinosaur Bone. You can see the tiny cell structures in this piece. It measures 4" x 2" and is a thick 10.5 mm. It weighs 115 grams or 4 ounces. Plenty of room for a few nice cabs for jewelry or as a specimen, either natural as it is, or polished.

Pietersite Rough Slab

Small Piece of Pietersite Rough, 38 Grams

This is a small piece of rough, uncut Pietersite with golden chatoyance. It is like a slab, but rather just uneven rough, with a thin slice along one edge only. It weighs 1.3 ounces, or 38 grams, and measures 2" x a little over 1 1/2" and thickness looks to be as thin as 4.5 mm but mostly 5-12 mm.

Gorgeous Translucent Green Jade Slab

This is a beautiful slice of translucent Jade. It's on the thinner side - between 4.4 and 4.7 mm thick, and measures apx 3 3/4" x 1 1/4 to just under 3 1/2". It weighs 87.7 grams, or 3 ounces.

Gold Sheen Obsidian Slab

Gold Sheen Mahogany Obsidian Slab

This piece of Obsidian has losts of beautiful shimmer of gold in it - not real gold, but known as 'Gold Sheen.' The rough material has to be cut at just the right angle in order to capture that sheen in it. And when you move it slightly in the light, you can see it. Very striking! It measures about 3" x 2 1/2" x 1/4" (6.3-6.4 mm) and weighs 51.5 grams, or 1.8 ounces. See the sheen better here in this YouTube video. First Class Shipping is available for less upon request.

Dryhead Agate Rough

Unpolished Dryhead Agate Half Nodule

This is a piece of Dryhead Agate, a single piece we found out in a batch of miscellaneous old stock material we were sorting. It is nearly a complete half nodule and even looks like it has had some grinding so it is very smooth but no shine. It is ready to be polished as a beautiful display piece, unless 'natural' is preferred. Or, some nice cabachons could be cut if desired instead. It's 4 1/2" x 3" and a little under 1" on one end and a little over 1" on the other, and weighs 13.8 oz.

Brazilian Agate Halves

Unpolished Brazilian Agate Halves ($6/lb)

These are sliced Brazilian Agates, faced rough pieces. We are offering them at $6/lb, but most pieces will weigh at least 2 lbs or more so the price is for a minimum of 2 lbs-worth, which could be only 1 piece. Many are complete halves, but some are not; some are amazing for displaying whether polished or unpolished as-is; other pieces could be cut for some gorgeous cabochons or other projects. If you would like to see pieces to choose from, send us a message with how many pounds you are interested in and we will pull and photo some for you to see first. We have a minimum of 20 lbs available. Mystery Purple Lapidary Rough

4 1/4 lb Piece Purple Lapidary Rough, Black/Purple Mix

This is a piece of purple material with Magnesite, a piece we think could possibly be a low-grade Sugilite (see listing below about why we think that). It weighs 4 lbs, 5.5 ounces (1.97 kgs), and measures 5 1/2" x 4" x 1-3". Whatever the material is, it works great for lapidary.

Large Rhodonite with Quartz Slab

Looking for Rhodonite Slabs?

This is a large slice of pink Rhodonite, mixed with white Quartz and black Manganese oxides in it. It also has some tarnished areas that should polish out. The size is about 6 1/2" x 4" and it is a little thicker on one side than the other - around 5/8" thick (14-17 mm). It weighs 2 lbs (900 grams).

Blue Biggs Jasper Slab

Blue Biggs Picture Jasper Slab - Nice Blues and Purplish Tones

This is a really nice slice of Blue Biggs Jasper. The blue in it has kind of been 'leaked' into some of the areas and it has a purple tone in there as well; plus some nice patterning. It measures roughly 5" x 4 1/4" at the widest points and mostly around 7 mm thick. It weighs 214 grams, or 7.6 ounces. Beautiful piece for display, or some wonderful cabs if preferred. It is shown dry in most photos since you can see the coloring better, but also wet in some. It is also shown on black background versus the light.

Indian Paint Stone Slab

5+" Indian Paint Stone Slab - Neat Patterns

This is a piece of Indian Paint Stone. It is from a chunk we halved not long ago, unlike most we have cut in the past. Pretty neat patterns in it, and looks like a nice, solid slab with no visible fractures. It measures very roughly 5 1/2" x 4" at the widest points, and goes from 7 mm on one end to 9 mm thick on the other end. The weight is 241 grams, or 8.5 ounces. As a reminder, polishing this material usuall as a satin sheen to it, and not the glossy shine of agates and jasters.

Mojave Blue Chalcedony

Piece of Elusive 'Mojave Blue' Chalcedony (we think!)

This is a piece of blue chalcedony. A lot of the batch we received that included this piece were pieces of Lead Pipe Springs thundereggs, filled with this beautiful material. Whether these are what was officially known as 'Mojave Blue' or not, we can't say. But it is a beautiful blue chalcedony with a little banding it it. It looks like someone gave it a light polish, but not fully. It measures roughly 3" x 2" x 2" and weighs 9.7 ounces (including the rhyolite matrix it is it).

Rutilated Quartz Rough

Natural Rutilated Quartz Crystal with Starburst Spray

This is a fantastic natural crystal of Rutilated Smoky Quartz. It is filled with beautiful golden Rutile needles, including a highly desireable starburst pattern (second photo). It weighs 338 grams, or 11.9 ounces, and measures roughly 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" at its wider points. It is rough and uncut.

Morocco Seam Agate Rough

Morocco Seam Agate Rough, By the Pound ($10/lb)

This is rough Seam Agate from Kerouchen, Morocco, by the pound. While we have seen this material on the marked for the last couple of years, the material is new to us. We've cut just a few pieces - a couple have yielded some gorgeous slices, while a couple more have just small splashes of color. Pieces are thin - from about 1/2" to 1 1/2" thick mostly, and range in size on average between about 2" - 5" one direction (though it is possible for some to be a little larger or smaller than that). The pieces in the photos are the exact batch we'll pull from but obviously not all pieces are visible. Large Mexican Lace Agate Slab

This is a large slice of an unpolished Mexican Lace Agate. Sliced from a nodule, the core has some reds and pinks in it besides the more dark and undefined rock, with a lacy pattern in yellowy shades around the edge. It is roughly 5" x 6" and 8-9 mm thick, and total weight is 12.9 ounces, or 365 grams.

This gorgeous piece is a slice of Petrified Wood, nearly a full round. We do not know the locality, we received it some years back as part of an old collection. Beautiful rich colors in it. It measures approximately 8" x 5 5/8" x a little over 1/2" thick. It weighs 1 lb 10 ounces. It is not polished, but is a beautiful specimen even as-is. Chrysocolla Rough

Chrysocolla Rough, By the Pound ($8/lb)

This is Chrysocolla rough, some with Malachite, Cuprite and/or Quartz. We have several batches, all similar to what you see, so you may or may not get any of the specific pieces you see in the photos. Sizes vary from approximately 2" up to 4-5" one way. We acquired this from an old collection, we did not collect it ourselves, so we can't say for sure where it was collected. As with any rough material, some pieces are nicer than others and we don't know what each piece will yield, there are often unforeseen flaws, fractures, etc., but we've sliced several pieces and each one yielded a variety of nice potential (see last photo with sample slabs). This Howlite slab is full of line patterns on the majority of it, with an area of more white on the opposite end. It has two small yellow dots on one side, they should grind off.
