These are three different qualities representing most of the Lapis we have to offer. The smallest piece in the center is a lower quality compared to the other two (we're referring to the coloring - not necessarily the pattern). The next largest in size, the piece on the right, is a higher quality, deeper, darker blue. The beautiful, royal blue piece on the left side is our highest quality (not much left). We have not graded these specifically, and are not experts on the quality grades of Lapis. These are just comparisons of what we have. We generally ask $20, $30 and $65/lb for the three types, though specific pieces or slabs may be priced higher. We know the highest quality we have is not the AAA grade, but we think it may have originally been offered as either AA or A grade.
This is a piece of Afghanistan Lapis Lazuli. It has been sliced on two sides, rough on the rest. It stands nicely, so if you're looking for a piece to polish, this could be a nice selection. It is speckled with Calcite and has some Pyrite. Please note there is also a saw cut on one end that would be visible if not trimmed off if displaying. It is about 6" x 4" at its wider points, and is up to 2" thick. It weighs 3 lb 15 oz. Lots of nice potential, whatever you have planned.
